RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURE REGARDING ADMISSIONS, TESTS, EXAMINATION, PROGRAMME SCHEDULE AND MATTERS RELATED, SUPPLEMENTARY AND INCIDENTAL THERETO.

OBJECT, AIM and PURPOSE

School of Distance Learning (SDL) is committed to provide excellent quality education to students and deliver various Diploma programmes, Post-Graduate Diploma programmes and Advanced Diploma programmes with highest standards of quality.

SDL has framed this circular containing rules and guidelines to ensure utmost well-being of students and smooth functioning of entire office machinery.

SDL issues this circular containing rules and guidelines to be effective from DD/MM/YY and to be in operation until further notice from SDL, which are subject to change, modification, deletion, alteration and addition by SDL from time to time by way of circulars, notifications and announcements.

1. ADMISSION PROCEDURE & RULES :
   
A)

Admission Form and other documents:

 

The admission form, should be duly filled in online available on the website and confirmation receipt of the same should be submitted to the study center either personally or by post / courier along with the DD of appropriate amount.

Following documents / photo copies / original certificates are required to be produced by candidate seeking admission at the study centers on or before the dates stipulated from time to time

  • One Passport size and one I-card size signed photographs.
  • Attested copy / ies of Degree / Diploma certificate.
  • Atested copy / ies of statement of marks of the relevant examination/s.
  • Certificate of the work experience issued by the employer.
   
B)

Entrance Test:

 

All candidates aspiring for and eligible for admission to the Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma and Advanced Diploma programmes will be required to appear for written entrance test to be conducted at the Study centers decided by NMIMS.

   
C)

Merit List:

 

Cut off for the Merit list will be decided by NMIMS and the Merit list will be put up on the website.

   
D)

Programme Fees:

 
  1. The candidates selected for admission will have to pay the programme fees on or before the prescribed date by DD of appropriate amount.
  2. Payment of fees should be made only by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “SVKM’s NMIMS, payable at Mumbai.” at various Study Centers of NMIMS. Cash & Cheques will not be accepted. Fees will not be accepted in installments.
  3. Fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable to any other programme or student under any circumstances.
  4. Fees include the fees for the course material and exam fees for first attempt in all the courses of a programme offered during both semesters in the year of admission.
   
E)

Study Material:

 

Printed Study Material should be collected from the Study Center by the student along with the I-card as soon as the admission process of the student is complete. Duplicate study material will be issued on request and payment of existing prescribed fees subject to the availability of the study material.

   
F)

Number/Application ID:

 

The registration number / Application ID is to be used for all future communications.

   
G)

Cancellation, Transfer, Validity and Expiry of Registration:

 
  1. Admission to the programme once taken cannot be cancelled, nor can it be transferred to any other programme.
  2. The validity period of registration for the Diploma courses will be 3 years from the date commencement of the programme.
  3. The validity period of registration for the Post Graduate Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas will be 5 years from the date commencement of the programme.
  4. After the expiry of the validity period the student has to re-register by paying the then existing fees and give exams for the existing syllabus and purchase the study material if it has changed.
   
2. PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMMES / COUNSELING SESSIONS :
   
 
  1. The time table for the PCPs / Counseling sessions will be announced on website.
  2. PCPs / counseling will be conducted for each course prefereably on Sundays. The total time devoted to each course will be 6 clock hours.
  3. The students are required to register for the PCPs / Counseling sessions by applying on or before the prescribed date along with the registration fees of Rs. 250 /- per course (ie per subject) by way of DD. The student may opt for any number of courses as per his choice.
  4. Registration fee once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable to any other programme or student under any circumstances.
  5. No PCPs / Counseling sessions will be conducted if the registrations are less than 12, before the prescribed date and in such a case registration fees for PCPs will be refunded in full.
   
3. EXAMINATION PROCEDURE & RULES :
   
 
  1. Evaluation will be on the basis of written examinations held in the months of May & November.
  2. Examinations will be held twice a year in the first week/second week of May and in the first week /second week of November.
  3. The students will need to register for the examination by filling in the examination form available on website within the designated time period. The examination hall ticket will be available to the student on the webiste itself once the student fill up the exam form
  4. Examination fees paid at the time of admission cover the 2 semester-end examinations during that admission year only. Students failing / remaining absent / not appearing on any account in any course can reappear for the examination in that course by re-registration, by paying the re-examination fees of Rs. 300/- (by DD Only) per course latest by 15th March for May exam and 15th September for November examinations.
  5. Examination fees are non-refundable and non-adjustable.
  6. The Registration for the examinations with a late fee of Rs 100/- (lump sum) will be accepted upto 15 days after the last date of registration.
  7. In semester scheme, a candidate registered in January batch can write Sem I papers in May Examinations and Sem II papers in Nov. Examinations. Correspondingly, a candidate registered in July batch can write Sem I papers in November examinations and Sem II papers in May examinations, if otherwise eligible.
  8. A student who skips his/her first semester examinations is free to write Sem I and Sem II papers together in one or more than one sitting in the next/subsequent examinations, if otherwise eligible.
  9. The time-table for examination will be displayed on the website well in advance.
  10. The management reserves the right to change, add or remove the examination centres with due notice on website.
  11. Those coming from outstation to any exam centre, for examinations will need to make their own arrangement for stay and travel.
  12. No request for change in examination centre will be entertained, after the prescribed date mentioned on the website.
  13. Students without valid identity cardose coming from outstation to any exam centre, for examinations will need to make their own arrangement for stay and travel.

  15. Students without valid identity card will not be allowed to attempt the examination.
  16. In case of non-receipt of hall ticket I-card will serve as the examination hall ticket.
  17. Request for revaluation of answer books is not permissible. However, the
    student may request for verification of marks ( checking the entry of marks and total of marks ) by applying on the prescribed form, which is available on web site. A written request on paper should be submitted to the university within 15 days of the date of declaration of the result by paying Rs 250 per paper in a prescribed format available on the net.
   
4. PROJECTS :
 
  1. The students of the PG & Advanced Diploma programmes should select a topic which is mentioned on the website, of their choice for a project.
  2. The student need to submit one hard copy of the project in a spiral binding. The last date of submission of the project report is 30th September of the IInd year.
   
5. STANDARD OF PASSING :
 
  1. All the programmes will follow Semester system.
  2. Each paper will carry 100 marks.
  3. Minimum 50% marks are required for passing in each course . A student has to pass in all the courses in order to be eligible for the Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma and Advanced Diploma certificate.
  4. Candidates found using unfair means at examinations will be disqualified from that examination. Such cases will be referred to the “Unfair Means Committee” at NMIMS and the decision taken by the committee will be final and binding on the student.
  5. The marksheet will be issued at the end of admission year and Diploma will be awarded only after the successful completion of the course
  6. The students of the Post Graduate Diploma/Advanced Diploma will be eligible for the admission to the 2nd year only if they successfully clear Six papers out of Ten papers.
  7. Diploma Students are eligible for admission to Post Graduate Diploma only. They can directly enroll for 2nd year admission provided they have successfully completed the Diploma . In such a case they have to pay the existing re-registration charges.
   
6. MISCELLANEOUS :
 
  1. Change of Specialization : Students once admitted to a particular programme will not be allowed to change to any other specialization / programme.
  2. Issue of Duplicate Identity Card: Identity card will be issued at the time of admission to the candidate. Duplicate identity card will be issued on payment of prescribed fees.
  3. Change of address: Any change of address of correspondence must be communicated to the institute form time to time through post or email at SDLadmission@NMIMSonLine.org
